YOUR SAFETY IS IMPORTANT

The safety and care quality of nationally accredited birth centers is well-documented. While research has been conducted on birth center safety and outcomes since the 1970’s, many major breakthroughs in nationwide recognition of birth centers have been more recent. In 2013, the National Birth Center II study published data recognizing that outcomes among low risk women delivering in an accredited birth center are equal to low risk women delivering in the hospital. Most recently in 2015, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) formally integrated birth centers into their Uniform Levels of Care designations. ACOG also recognizes Certified Nurse-Midwives as safe care providers for women.

At FWBC, we ensure your safety by continuously monitoring the health of you and your baby during labor and birth. We are strategically located just two blocks from Harris Methodist Fort Worth and Cooks Childrens Hospital. We have a great working relationship with both hospitals and attend routine collaborative emergency drills with both facilities. Our midwives also have hospital privileges and in most cases will continue to provide care in the case of a hospital transfer. This allows for not only continuity of care but also a seamless transfer to the hospital in the rare case that it is necessary. Our state of the art emergency equipment includes a neopuff infant resuscitation machine. This is the same equipment found in most hospitals, which is used to help a newborn breathe.
